New DT Wheels

There is a great new display of DT wheels in the shop, Jim the carpenter built a great stand for them which you can see below. DT Wheels are amongst the best in the world, in fact they make many rims and spokes for a host of other wheel companies. Having ridden a pair of DT wheels for the best part of a year I can certainly say they are stiffer, stronger and more durable than the wheels that came with my bike.

This is what a customer wrote in an email to me after riding a pair of R23’s which he bought to replace the stock wheels on his Genesis Equilibrium (I weighed his old wheels and they were almost 2KGs so he saved 400g!!)

Just got back from a little spin with the new wheels.  Wow, what a difference they make!  It’s like having a new bike.  They were so responsive when accelerating and climbing was loads easier.  i should’ve done that years ago. “

I’m so confident in DT wheels that I offer free truing and free spoke replacement for the life of the wheels.

I’ve got 4 pairs of road / cyclocross wheels always in stock – 2 for disc brakes and 2 for rim brakes.

Wide rims:

All the wheels have modern wide rims, which mean that the profile of the tyre when inflated is more rounded rather than lightbulb shaped – meaning more tyre on the road when cornering

Tubeless:

The wheels can be run with inner tubes or with special tubless tyres that do not require inner tubes. Tubeless valves and tubeless rim tape are supplied with the wheels

Axle compatibility

These wheels are very simple to convert the axle end cap depending if you have quick release, 12mm thru axle or 15mm thru axles. Simply pop off the end cap and insert the correct end cap which all come supplied with the wheels.

The wheels:

The hub machining is beautiful

R23 – rim brake model 1605grams pair £375.00

R23 – disc brake model 1655grams pair £425.00

Aero spokes on both R23 model wheels are strong,l stiff and aerodynamic!

R32 rim brake model 1735grams pair £375.00

R32 disc brake model 1720grams pair £425.00

New GT Grade

Great new bike has arrived in, the reasonably priced  GT Grade, for 799.99. Its equipped with 9 speed Sora Shimano gears – ideal as an introduction to road bikes as they give brilliantly crisp shifting, but being less prone to problems of the more finely tuned 10 and 11 speed gear systems.  Disc brakes give excellent braking in all conditions and wider tyres compared to true road bike tyres give you more grip, but give away little in speed.

New bikes in

We’ve got some great bikes newly arrived, built, checked and ready to go for a long hot summer!

New in is the GT Bicycles Grade. I’ve been riding one for 8 weeks now and have been so impressed got them into the shop.  They are a fast and comfortable ‘do it all’ bike. GT call them ‘enduroad’ which is a bit weird but bike companies are always trying to sell us new ideas!  To sum up it goes fast on the road or you can stick nobbly cyclocross tyres on it and use it on canal pats or byways / bridleways.  It can also have mudguards fitted so makes an ideal longer distance commuter bike.

Also new in to the shop are a couple of really great value ‘touring bikes’, although as they’re such great value (430.00) they could be used for popping into town, leisure rides or commuting.  The bikes are the Adventure ‘Flat White’, reviewers love it and it does have that springy steel smooth ride quality.  That’s one highlight actually – its got a lugged steel frame. Pop by to have a look and ask for a test ride.

Maxxis Tyres and Hope Wheel Deal

20141030_161353[1]

We’ve got some excellent deals on Maxxis mountain bike tyres (new stock just in)
and Hope ZTR Flow EX wheels. There’s a free inner tube with each Maxxis tyre, and with the Hope ZTR Flow EX wheelset you get 2 free tyre worth up to £60 for the pair. Its worth mentioning that with the wheels we’ll chuck in a set of axle adapters to let you run thru axles – these are worth approximately £30, they also come with a set of spare spokes, but in our experience you’re unlikely to need these!

We’ve got the Minion DHF tyres in 2 versions, with different compounds, the Medusa mud tyre and High Roller II 29er tyres.  We’re also expecting folding High Roller II tyres in due middle November.  The Minion looks a good bet as its faster rolling than the High Roller II and just as grippy if not even more so.
